Leadership Team

Principal: Mrs Thornton BA (Hons) in Primary Education with Geography, and NPQH

Mrs Thornton has worked in primary schools for the last 21 years, with 19 of those years working in a senior leadership team. She has vast experience in teaching primary-aged children, and providing professional development and training for other teachers and creating exciting curriculum opportunities. She is passionate about making learning enjoyable, engaging and inclusive for all children and enjoys planning exciting themed weeks and extra-curricular events. Mrs Thornton is a SLE (specialist leader in education) with a talent for curriculum, assessment and using data. 

Vice principal: Mr Roach BA (Hons) Politics and Modern History, PGCert and MA Teaching)

After years of primary school teaching, Mr Roach joined Greenacres in September 2015 as the Year 6 teacher. Now, as Vice Principal, he is currently leading the curriculum and assessment as well as other projects in school. Mr Roach is also a writing moderator across Oldham. When he's not at school teaching Year 5, you might find him discussing reading and writing with other professionals on Twitter.

Assistant Principal: Mrs Buckley BA (hons) in Primary Education with Physical Education (QTS) 

Mrs Buckley started working at Greenacres in 2010 as an NQT and has worked her way up through school. She is our Early Years Leader and also Early Reading Leader which means she runs all the phonics through Read, Write, Inc. 

Assistant Principal: Mr Chadderton MA economics and geography 

Mr Chadderton came to Greenacres as an NQT in 2014. He has a keen interest in Geography, Maths and PE and his role in school is around Teaching and Learning strategies and supporting other colleagues. 

Early Years Leader: Miss Gould

Miss Gould is our Early Years Leader, but also has a passion for being creative. Her other key roles are leading Art and Design Technology, which she has transformed in school!
